Shooting in Orly Leaves 1 Dead, 4 Injured

The area of Val-de-Marne, an administrative department located outside Paris, was taken by surprise November 23 when a shooting took place at a bar called Le St Exupéry Brasserie. Just after 12:30pm on Friday, a car carrying two shooters opened fire on those dining outside the bar. 9mm casings littered the scene where five victims were shot, one fatally, a 32-year-old worker who stopped to dine for lunch. Of the surviving victims, one remains in critical condition while the other three were less seriously injured.

Service Department of Judicial Police (SDPJ) prosecutor Nathalie Bécache spoke to the press shortly after the shooting. She noted that two of the five victims are known to the police for previous offenses. The other three, including the deceased, have no previous involvement with the police, potentially suggesting them as “collateral damage” of foul play. An investigation by the SDPJ remains ongoing.
